One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is to remember how to breathe. Most people barely breathe, yet they think they are breathing just fine. It may be enough to stay alive, but your breath can bring you so much more. How you breathe IS how you live. Breathe shallowly - you live a little less full. Breathe deep and big, and I bet you live a big life. Your life can shift amazingly as you breathe more fully and become consciously aware of your breath. Many of us, especially when things aren't going as expected, feel like we have lost our Universal connection. Whenever we disconnect, we constrict our breathing. But it's easy to reconnect. Deep relaxed breathing can take us gracefully back into the stillness that lies at our center. Our breath can gently bring us back to the connection we seek. Our breath is the connection to self.

How can we work through these seemingly daily challenges and change? Just breathe using one of these techniques:

  1. Inhale for a count of 5, pause for a count of 4, exhale for a count of 3

  2. Inhale through the nose, exhale through your nose

  3. Inhale through the mouth, exhale through your mouth

  4. Inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth

  5. Use your belly for breathing, not just your lungs
