Some people create a special corner or place in their homes to practice "mindfulness." A quiet space, a little altar, somewhere private. Ideally, mindfulness is something you will practice everywhere, all the time -- being mindful of what you're doing, where you are, how you feel, what you're eating, who you're with, how you are reacting to them and the rest of your environment.
It's wonderful to have someplace quiet, peaceful, and private you can retreat to from time to time. A place you can go inward and meditate and practice mindfulness. A place away from the concerns and noise of your everyday world. Choose a room where you can close the door and be alone -- even a bathroom or walk-in closet will do. Take away clutter and make it as beautiful as practical -- add a restful picture or statue, special stones, flowers, candles, or essential oil.
Sit in this self-created space and enjoy the silence. Enjoy listening to the drip of a faucet or wind outside the window. Or listen to relaxing music or a guided meditation. Relax, and be still. Enjoy the moment.
