Is it ok to count my breaths during my meditation?
Many people find counting their breath helpful during meditation. This is actually a mindful, focus-based way of meditating. You can go about this as follows:
As you inhale, count one in your mind; as you exhale, count two. You then repeat 1, 2; 1, 2 (inhale and exhale).
Or, as you inhale, count up to 10. Hold your breath for a moment. As you exhale, count to 10. Then start again at one. If at any time you lose track of the number you were on, just go back to one, starting over.
Remember, anytime you can take time to rest your brain and body is a good meditation practice. And the more you practice, the better you will become.
