Welcome 2018 with a new mindful practice

Start right now, today, not living in the past. Quit thinking about what you could have or should have or would have done in a previous situation. No more "Woulda - Coulda - Shoulda". Today is a new day and it’s your day to begin a new mindful practice.

Today you will start by being aware and observant of every time you start thinking of the past. Take a moment to feel, deep in your core, what the thought brings to you. How do you feel? Notice what part of your body this feeling rests. Typically you will feel emotion in your heart or your tummy. Now close your eyes for a second and visually breath the “woulda, coulda, shoulda thought right out. Exhale the thought/the words, right out with your breath. No judgement .... just an awareness and notation of the feeling and release. Practice this every single day for a month. You will be amazed at the freedom you gain in releasing your wouldas, shouldas, and couldas.

One breath in and exhale. Mindful breath in; mindful breath out. No judgement; just awareness of how freeing this breathing practice is for you.

As you welcome the New Year think of how you want this new month to unfold. Don’t overthink this because it’s just the beginning ... you have 365 days! Think of one new activity or experience you would like to undertake. Something that won’t end up in the woulda, coulda, shoulda pile. As you practice and become proficient with your mindful breathing, make the following addition. Start the practice off by thinking about your “want/new activity, then get into breathing. When this ends take a moment to see the want/activity come to fruition. Complete your mindful practice with a mental word of gratitude.

Cheers to a New Year and New Mindful Beginnings.
