Get Meditated

Meditation is a practice with roots dating back thousands of years, offering a pathway to connect with your inner self and discover a state of calm amidst life's chaos. Through intentional breathing, focused attention, and the art of letting go, meditation allows us to quiet our minds and find solace in the present moment.

Here are questions I get a lot about the guided meditation I teach:

  • Why should I embark on this meditation journey? The benefits of meditation extend far beyond just relaxation. Research has shown that regular meditation can reduce stress, enhance concentration, improve emotional well-being, and promote physical health. By engaging in meditation, you can cultivate a sense of self-awareness that leads to better decision-making and a more positive outlook on life. I am teaching and guiding because I have seen these benefits.

  • But does it work? Yes, absolutely. Regular meditation has scientifically been shown to activate relaxation, leading to a decrease in stress hormones. Just by practicing deep breathing, you can create a butter again the effects of stress.

  • I don't think I can focus for an hour. Neither can I! I started with 4 minutes each day, and those 4 minutes went pretty fast, so little by little, I increased my quiet time. I found that if you put a few things in place and repeat this new habit every day at the same time - you will have a regular meditation practice. Here is what I do:

    • I practice at the same time each day, usually in the morning.

    • I usually sit, but sometimes I stay in bed in a prone position. It is always quiet. If people are in the house, I close the door and let them know I am meditating.

    • I do love being outdoors, so sometimes I meditate outside. I close my eyes and use my senses to keep me focused - I smell, listen, try to taste, and even see with closed eyes - all of this brings about sensations and feelings.

    • I close my eyes and focus on my breath. Sometimes that is all I do. Other times I turn to my app for a little guided meditation. Sometimes I just let my mind guide me to where I need to be. I often understand where I should spend time or what needs to be released as I focus on my wandering mind. When I finish, I always set an intention to have a good day or be a little kinder or live a little more simply.
